Question OD cutout sensor fitting size?

I have a 1/8" NPT temp sensor to plumb into my tranny line. I want to install it in the socket where the OD cut out temp sensor currently resides. Anybody know what thread that is so I can get an adaptor before I pull it?

It's pipe thread. I'm pretty sure it's 1/4npt... or possibly 3/8npt. If you have ANY pipe thread plugs, 1/4 or 3/8's place them next to the od sensor, that will tell you which size.

You can replace the sensor or do like I did. 1/4 Male x Male adaptor (goes in the cooler line), 1/4 T fitting, then put the od sensor in one of the outlets of the T, then a 1/4 male x 1/8 female bushing where the gauge temp sensor will go. Use plenty of teflon tape or liquid. I didn't and mine weeps.

I had mine in there but it didn't seem to read accurately. So i put a T into the transmission line and it seemed to work better there.

The "T" doesn't isolate and give an off reading by not being in the flow? I guess the heat transfer w/o circulation?

I installed my "T" last night. The sendor in the "T" reads 5-20* cooler than the dipstick. They stayed the same until about 105* and then the dipstick slowly climbed. That was just up & down the road thought. I'll haul some cattle tonight and see what it does under load.

Is that line the return? I didn't even looK.
