O/D Problem

Well... ever since the trucks been home, after sitting for 7 weeks, things haven't been all up to snuff. Once on the highway you'll get her up there and wait fer that boost. After a period of time BAM she'd kick in but once she'd climb to say 110km/hr she'd die and go back to 80 ish or better, overdriveless. Now, I thought this would soon go away but to no avail it still does it. After 500 kms she stills been doing it and it's not like things weren't warm or anything because they most definately were. Everything aside from this appears to run the same as before but I can't figure this out. Possible when I was underneath her I might have moved/disconnected something but I dunno.

Help is wanted and appreciated, Thanks

When my TPS gave out, I'd be driving down the road at 70mph and all of a sudden the OD would kick out, I'd drop back to about 55-60mph, and then it would kick back in again. Not all the time, just occasionally. I noticed it corresponded to an accelerator position, clued me in to the TPS. Someone on here once had an idea to bypass the TPS with a resistor. I can't remember the value he used, but he's been running like that for ages, no problems. Try running a search on TPS, that might be worth a cheap try to see if it fixes the problem.

it's one of 4 things: the Tranny Temp Sensor , vehicle speed sensor, throttle position sensor, or PCM (not sure what that stands for). any one of these will cause the symtoms you describe, and there's a good possibility that more than 1 have gone bad.

when bill k replaced my tranny all of the above needed replacing (which he did for the cost of the parts. thanks again bill, stephan, and co.).

Found out my problem the other day actually. Went out one cold morning, turned the key and everything was DEAD. Figured it was a starter but low and behold we checked things out and it turned out to be a bad ground wire and bad block heater but bah, whatever, lol. Things weren't getting enough charge, like the O/D fer instance, and was limiting a few things.

Anyhow... She was what, -20ish today, and let her warm up for an hour or so and took her out. Well... all I can say is VROOOOOM!... AIIEEE! . Was goin on the highway, pushed the pedal down, and let her drive a little hard around a 100ish or better. So I tried things out, slacked her off, and slowly accelerated again and there she went. Just like new... 110, 120, 130, 140... lol... God I missed her.

But now that that's fixed I'm MUCH happier. Thanks for any response you guys gave. Much abbliged.
