first off you need to find out why the truck will not go over 45 mph, unless you have very low gear rear end you should be able to get a least to 60 mph without overdrive granted it will be screaming. According to the FSM, the two wires you are looking for will be on the driver side and should be part of the wiring going to be speed sensor and neutral safety start sensor. The color code for the overdrive will be read/LG which I believe is green tracer the other wire is dark brown if I'm reading the FSM correctly. You really need to fill out your signature so we know what truck you're talking about. Just my two cents, Mike.

You should be able to go at least 60 mph and stay under 2800 rpm or at least not over 2800 rpm. It sounds like you're going into third gear. Just my two cents, Mike.
