NV4500UHD conversion? and SBC dual disk 3850 comp

The time has come for the getrag to go. They don't make a 1.375 input for the rag to run a dual disk so out it goes. I broke the bank a month back and bought the dual disk from peter at south bend. Made a call to a friend of peters and bought a NEW NV4500 and had it torn down and upgraded with the updated 5th mainshaft, 1.375 input, and cast iron rear extension housing thus it is the NV4500 Ultra Heavy Duty. Bought the stuff necessary for the conversion as well. It cost more than the truck did 3 years ago!

The kit had no directions, I have to cut the floor how much?

Update,

Monday morning the first gen creeped out the door of the the garage after a long vacation from the world. Partly due to the discovery of a badly rotted drivers floor pan and cab support, both of which were tackled along with all the swapping. I am fairly sure, after talking with Peter that this is potentially the first, 1st gen 3850DD swap that uses peters new taller pressure plate. That made for a very nervous swap as I was writing the book. It has made the 40 mile ride to work 3 times this week. I have been evaluating it's performance through the week as well. There are a few undocumented engineering changes that had to be made for this to work with the Advanced Adapters bellhousing, but they are fairly simple to perform at home.

The initial conclusions are:

1)very high clutch pedal effort
2)plenty of powertrain noise transfer (non sprung hub)
3)slow shifts allow for adequate release of disks for correct spin down
4)priceless looks from other motorists at stoplights when clutch pedal is down
5)increased load causes the pump to fuel much more agressively than before
6)dana 70 damage looms in the future

I put a SB 3600DD in my first gen. I only had it in for about 500 miles and took it out. They do hold extremely well and would be the ticket for sledpulling .

Thats exactly why it went in there, for sled pulling. I will keep running the little VE and PODS for a while, but unfortunately will probably have to switch it out for something else like a custom built p-7100 and edms. No one seems to really wants to make the little rotary push the fuel except KTA. This is an expensive hobby chasing duramax's and various newer cummins trucks. I don't finish first or last but being in the top 10 out of 30 says something for the rotary. It would sure be nice to get some sponsorship/diesel shop breaks soon. But, for now a little at a time.
