NV4500 Conversion
NV4500 Conversion
I have a 1991 W250 and i wont to get a NV4500 in it. I have a getrag 360 in there now but wonder if the NV4500 is a direct bolt in to the motor and transfer case (205), or if some conversions must be made. What do they usually run at, i can get one for $1000 Can. rebuilt.

hey freddy-
how much did it cost you to convert from an AT to the 5 spd? i am thinking about doing that over the holidays. i was wondering what i could expect to pay if i had it done for me vs. doing it myself.

I did this in the truck before this one, very easy if you have some tools and a tranny jack. One word of advice get the cast iron adapter between the Tranny and transfer case, I replaced the alumiunum one 3 times then sold the truck. after which I find they noww make a cast iron one.

Here's a link showing some prices:

It's not a direct bolt up but these guys have a complete kit that includes the tranny, bell housing, mounts, etc. for about $2400 with a $500 refundable core charge. Fwiw. Chuck

Cdodgeguy there is a fair amount of piddly labour that goes into this conversion so you will save an awful lot of money doing it yourself. Besides you will have the satisfaction of knowing that is done right.
