noise in front end... ??

I have this odd noise in the front end that I have not been able to track down.

At first I thought in was brake related, because I first noticed it under hard braking, a not-too-loud "thuk" in the front end, as if the frame was somehow shifting forward over the suspension as the truck slowed down quickly, especially when I was going down my steep driveway.

But I have heard it also on quick acceleration and sometimes even just driving the truck around the pasture or forestry road on my land, in other words, on uneven ground but not braking or accelerating.

It mostly seems to be on the driver's side, but sometimes I'm not sure, and it could be coming from the passenger side as well. I checked the steering box plate and frame there and I can't see that there are any cracks.

The steering is a little loose, but way less so after I changed the drag link. I do need a new coupler, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Any ideas?

Check you front spring eye bushings. I have owned a good many old Dodges of this chassis style and have seen a lot of those bushings worn...especially the drivers side.

King pins can also make off noises.

Thats about all the ideas I have any personal experience with.
