No longer stright pipe

Yep I put a muffler on today.. I love stright pipe sound but when I pull our travel trailer the drone in the cab was too much on 8 hour drives, now much quieter in the cab and a mellow tone from the pipe now. I'm a little on the fence about it because it's really mellow lol, hopefully it'll grow on me

I considered it but ultimately took the hard route & pulled the interior apart & damped it beyond belief. Muffler would've been easier. lol

I did straight pipe for almost 3 yeas...but it was starting to get on my nerves. I installed a nice 4" straight through performance type muffler and it sure made it more pleasurable to drive. Still has a nice sound to it.

Sure you'll come to like it.

Yea the muffler I took off came from a Ford 6.crap.. lol its a stright threw with holes and a mesh padding, the real test will be tomorrow when I pull the trailer again only about a 100 miles for a quick camping trip. I'll probably learn to like/love it, I'm not a kid anymore and like having conversations while driving

You can tell you're old when you put on a muffler.

I went from a straight pipe to a Diamond Eye 4" last spring and really like it. Before I thought the volume control on the radio was broke but it seems to work just fine now...

I took it off a Ford 6.0 that had a cat delete with a stright threw muffler. Well just got done pulling my travel trailer round trip 300 miles, a lot quiter for sure and no loud drone. I did notice that my egts were about 100-150 degrees higher pulling the same load on the same grades I'm not really liking that at all. I was at 900* before and now 1000 plus. My fuel economy seems to be down about a 1-2 mpg. Was 11-12mpg now 9-10.?.?.. oh well I guess, it's nice not having a headache when we pull up to camp from the loud drive

I hadn't noticed my EGTs changing but I haven't really pulled a lot since then either.

Glad you like the new tone.

I know you are in Cali. Any chance you're running winter blend fuel?

My wife and I can tell when they switch. She has a TDI beetle and keeps track of mileage. It will drop from 43-45 to 39-41 when they switch.

Yup my mileage drops at least 1-2mpg with the winter blend fuel as well. Also the fact that it's firing up in frigid weather, and running cold a lot longer doesn't help either.

Not likely. The difference is lighter weight fuel (so it doesn't gel) has less BTU's, (energy)
