no brakes!!!! need help

i fired up my 93 auto a little while ago and had no brakes when i backed out of the drive way and i have a very fast drip coming out of that powersteering vacuum thing. my brakes have kinda always sucked but they have givin no warning to this problem as far as i know and im not really sure how to go about diagnosis and repair of this problem. i am kinda hoping this is an halfway simple fix but with my history im sure its a pain in the ***

Sounds like you're saying the vacuum pump is dripping something. Hopefully if anything its dripping oil Do you have a hard pedal or soft pedal that goes to the floor?

My guess is seals in vacuum pump went out and you're leaking oil. That would cause a hard pedal.

Its common for the seals between the power steering pump and the vacuum pump to go bad, and you will leak PS fluid out of the pump.
The results will be soft brakes and stiff steering..

This article may help if its the pump:

If its a vacuum leak, that will show as hard pedal and poor reaction from your brakes, as well as causing issues with the vent position selection and cruise.

No vacuum. Could be
bad vacuum pump
bad brake booster
hose off somewhere, including heater controls.
dried up leaking hose connection somewhere

Start at the vacuum pump and dog it.

ok i pulled the hose off my booster and it defiantly had vacuum but it had a strong pulse to it not sure if thats normal. i switched hvac to defrost and it did switch but it seemed sluggish. im kind of a newb here as i have never dealt with a system like this before so im not really sure what any of this means

Vacuum pump vents into crankcase. A vacuum leak causes excess airflow into crankcase. Check for bad hoses, bad connections, bad booster. Also check the low vacuum sensor below the drivers side hood hinge, the hose barb is known to be fragile causing the anti-lock light to come on, and a loss of vacuum.
