i have the ecaxt same problem. Except i put a nv4500 in. It does the exact same thing. I can pull 4000 in nuetral but not build over 12psi in gear.

This is sounding more and more like a fuel issue. What is the fuel pressure coming off the filter?

I was wondering that too.............. if the boost is low and I have the pedal jammed to the floor, fuel is being restricting somehow. I have no idea what the fuel pressure is. I do not have a gauge or even know where to correctly plumb one in. I'm assuming get a "T" fitting and run a gauge between the lift pump and injection pump?

I do know one thing, if I manually shift through the gears I can build good boost/make good power. Letting the transmission do the work in D will make it sloppy and low powered. This leads me to believe a fuel delivery issue may not be the problem..........???

Well if everything is normal by manually shifting it than that means the trans is shifting too early and not letting the engine build boost.

Think about it, it would be like putting a 5 speed is 4th gear and going away from a stop sign and flooring it, the engine would just bog and not build boost.

Its gotta be the TV cable.

Ok, that makes total sense to me. I understand that the TV cable adjustment is everything in shifting. I have played around so many times with it and adjusted it to where my transmission builder has suggested. I have not been able to achieve long, spread out shifts. Before the rebuild, I had a friend put in a Transgo shift kit into the valve body. Boy! what a difference! The shifts were spread out, firm, and I could literally feel/count the shifts. Now after the rebuild, the shifts are sloppy, truck shifts extremely fast between gears and low boost/low power. I would like to see a good picture of an unmolested TV cable installed on a 1st gen. I want to make darn sure I don't have missing hardware or something gone/misplaced from the previous owner. I do agree..........TV cable or Valve body issues inside

Since you are able to get good power manually shifting the tranny I need to retract my opinion that it is a fuel issue and agree that the problem most likely is n the TV adjustment. Sometimes the TV cable can be real touchy and you may find it difficult to hit the sweet spot right away.

Yes, I have a return spring on the TV cable. I'm not sure if it is the correct one/correct tension? It would be nice if I could compare mine to what is stock on a 91-93 Ram. I find myself double checking on what is equipped on my truck compared to a less "tampered" rig.

At this point, my transmission builder has requested that I hold tight until he returns from being out of the state. He truely believes it is the TV cable as well.

I could take a pic of the TV cable setup on our 727 truck, i think its the same . It shifts perfect, nice and high in the RPM's to keep it in the powerband.

the 1-2 is kinda early (normal i guess) but 2-3 gives you time to build power...maybe because the trans has like 240k on it and was pulled with every day....

Sorry the qual. sucks. Used my phone
