Restriction of Transmission Heat Exchanger - Don't want to fry my newly rebuilt trans
Hey all,
I am getting ready to install my rebuilt trans, and have flushed the lines and cooler as per some very helpfuly suggestions here on DTR, and I have one more (famous last words) question:
When I put an air line to either port/line of the heat exchanger to flush it/blow it out, I don't get much air out of the other open port/line. I put about 100psi to it and it definitely does not feel like 100psi out the other port.
My question is, is this normal? Should there be a considerable amount of restriction through the heat exchanger, or is it plugged/damaged?
I don't want to fry my new trans due to an abnormal amount of restiction.
Thanks for the help!

The check valve is in the short rubber section just before the exchanger. Did you blow thru that or just the exchanger?
My advice would be to determine if it is the check valve or the exchanger. If it is the check valve, remove that section. IF it is the exchanger, then you need a plan B. KD

I removed BOTH hoses, so I the check valve is not an issue. The hose is all clean and the check valve appears to be working properly.
I stopped by the Dodge dealer, but he did not have a "spec" for how much restriction there should be in the heat exchanger.
Again, I can get air to come out, just not as much as when I blow through the trans lines and cooler.
If this is not normal, what on earth would be causing the restriction???
I am really concerned here guys...

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Heat exchanger should be non restrictive. Does it flow well with only 25 PSI?? If something is in xchanger, should be able to blow backwards and clen out. sometimes takes cleaner and air pressure to break loose. Don't put back in if not satsified with flow. See plan b.
