New guy to the 1st gen cummins world (pics!)

Hi guys, Jeremy from Alabama here, just picked up a 91 LE 2wd 5spd about a week ago, and thought I would introduce myself. I'm a complete diesel noob, but I know how to use tools, and do a lot of my own wrenching. The truck is mechanically sound, motor runs fine, but only the volt and oil pressure guages work, none of the idiot lights lite up, the hazards flash fine, but the blinker stalk won't activate the blinkers or the brights, and you gotta double clutch to get it in third. BUT I LOVE THIS TRUCK! I've wanted a cummins for 6 years, and now i finally have one! My main question right now is how to get these blinkers working, I was wondering if I could run some kind of 3 position switch from the flashers behind the glove box temporarily, until I have the time to pull the steering wheel and replace the stalk? Also, maybe someone knows a good place to get a replacement stalk other than a junkyard?

Glad I found this lil nook of cummins guys on the net, look forward to helping and being helped in the future here!

Nice!

Judging by the look of the pedals, I'm going to guess that bad boy has 250- 300K on the ticker?

Yep, it's reading 262k, but it's rust free, and purrs like a kitten! My plans are as follows: flat black paint, I'm going to run the exhaust out of the passenger front quarter panel, and then straight up, with a flapper on top, and have a "don't tread on me" snake/logo airbrushed on the hood. I'll paint the letters on the tailgate blood red, black out the grill, and use it as my daily driver.
I figure the trans will need to come out sooner or later, but I can handle that, and I need to get these gauges and blinkers working, but other than that, and the KDP fix, nothing needs to be done immediatley. I changed the oil and filter on Thursday, and I'm monitoring the oil to see if it's making any, so far so good. I'm hoping to have it painted in the next 2 weeks, and I'll post pics when I'm done! Also of the exhaust too when that is finished!

Have you tried to change the hazard flasher and the blinker flasher. Or am I miss reading your question?

Yea, take a test light and see if you have power at the flasher with the directionals on.

I was just working on a multi-function switch and it's the tan and light green wire that run the directionals/hazards.

And look, he's got the strait across steering wheel.

All I have to go on is a chiltons manual, and it says the hazard/blinker flashers are behind the glove box. Right now, my hazard lights work fine, the blinkers worked for a week, then suddenly quit. No lights on the dash or anything. I just assumed there was only one set of flashers that ran the hazards and the blinkers. Since the hazard switch still works, I figured it was a bad stalk. But I'm just guessing at this point, lol

The flashers are in the fuse block under the steering colume pull the whole block down and you can twist it and see both the flashers.
