New guy

First off, I'd like to say thanks to all of you for this excellent source if information.
I was looking for info on the KDP and found this site last week and along with fixing the KDP I also fixed the drivers power window motor and power door lock switch, made the injector puller and replaced the injectors, found out my lift pump was bad so I'm doing the 3936320 upgrade today and am looking at upgrading my turbo.
With that my truck is an early 1991 with the 3.07 rears and 727 trans. I bought it in 1996 with 121k and it already had a Banks intercooler and exhaust on it. I think the truck went from southern CA through AZ through an auction in Philadelphia and I bought it just outside of Harrisburg PA. So I don't anymore that might have been done to it. I now have 203k on it and it has been an excellent truck.
My turbo has H1C on a data plate on the compressor and 3519410 cast on the turbine housing a has a 3" inlet and an 18cm turbine housing, it maxes out at 25psi. Is this a good turbo to put the 16cm housing on? I haven't tweeked the pump yet and have just installed the 190 injectors. It now has a Bullydog 3.5" to 4" exhaust on it
I'm not looking to get crazy with the power, so am I going in the right direction for a little more performance?

Thanks again

welcome, glad to see you are finding all the info this site has to offer. go to "user CP" and fill out your signature so the truck info comes up every time you post. As far as the 16cm housing is concered i would say it's not worth it. since you have an auto the turbo is only spooling once and the 18 will be close enough. you'd be better off spending the money on a www.htturbo.com compressor upgrade and BHAF (big honkin air filter). With that you will also get the cool turbo whistle everyone loves, lol. And most important, if you do not have one yet, get an exhaust temp gague! don't want to go melting a piston!

First off welcome. I have a 89 which has the same turbo thats on your truck. Start off by putting a set of guages in it if there not already there then I would go for the 3200 gov spring upgrade, it makes it feel like a different truck. Then turn up the pump and possibly grind your fuel pin if you still want more. I am seeing about 36lb of boost on the stock turbo and intercooler and the stock injectors. The full power screw is a big power adder and grinding the pin will also help. As for a putting a 16cm housing on it I was told that it won't be worth the expense to go from the 18cm to the 16cm.

Hope this is some help. Ryan

Sounds like you've got yourself a good truck--the Bank$ IC is a total bonus--adding an IC to these trucks w/o a kit is a PITA, ask me how I know You're not gonna see a big gain with the 190's, all else being the same. The non-ic trucks had bigger sticks from the start, FWIW. Shiny new is cool, though and if they're a matched set, it probably runs smoother, too Get a pyrometer and boost gauge in there and then let the fun begin. The first couple cranks of the full-fuel screw will leave you in complete disbelief and you'll have a permanent dopey grin on your face

Welcome to DTR!

what I'd do as far as turbo upgrades are concerned for this truck (I had the same turbo you did) is find an hx35 pull off from a 2nd gen, rather than putting new parts on your old original turbo... Mine was leaking oil into the compressor side @ only 150K miles. For Non I/C stockers the hx35 with the wastegated 12 exhaust housing is enough turbo, it is loud and sounds cool with the MWE slot.
