New first gen owner - 93 club cab D250 with pics
Hello everyone,
Newbie here I picked up is wonderful 93 2 week ago, and have put 2500 miles on it already. I love this truck! This is my first diesel. I needed something bombproof and simple, so the cummins/5 speed combo was the obvious choice in my price range. I've owned gassers before, a dinky v6 5spd S10 and a 71 C20. I'm usually a GM guy, but man this truck has both of those beat by a long shot. I needed something of this caliber to haul my toys around. it's a little sad when your truck gets better MPG towing the cars than the cars will themselves
A little about me- I'm currently a UH-60 Crew Chief in the Army, previously an engine builder at a speed shop in southern CA. Pontiacs and old motorcycles are my passion, I own a 1966 Lemans with a hairy 455, a 79 T/A, a Z06 Vette and a few oddball old bikes.
Alright- a little about the truck.
Bought it from a landscaper up in Sacramento, before that it looks like it was a fleet truck. Minimal interior trim (no headliner/ a pillar trim) and a old serial number on the dash. It's been pained in the last few years, and the bed isn't original, the truck cab is white originally and the bed was green. Maybe it had a utility bed....who knows
It's got 262K miles as of today, and I have a logbook of all maintenance done since 93! Every oil change etc documented.
I have done the following:
16x7 Ford alcoas with 265/75r16 tires
4" turbo back exhaust with a nice 5" tip
Napa 2790 BHAF
Stereo/speakers
Gauges are on order
Brakes are next, have them sitting in boxes. Typical squishy pedal and something pulsating in the rear end.
I pulled the entire front clip off a pristine 88, so I will be doing the old school front grille swap. Time to break out the welder.
Again, I love this truck. I plan on keeping this thing until it rots of the frame. I have averaged 21-24 mpg between 65-70 mph. It is very sturdy and doesn't have any clunks or rattles. All you hear driving this thing is the sweet sound of that 12v. Can't say that about my previous trucks, as they sounded like something fell off every bump
See you guys around!

Nice Ride, man !
If you plan on keeping it till "it rots off the frame", well you better move back east where the salt will fulfill your wishes..
These are fun trucks, and the brakes are one of the things that gets discussed the most around here, AFAIK. They can work really well, if you get them set up right. Rear wheel cylinders are the main culprit, but once replaced with quality new units, and bled right, the brakes do work quite well.
Welcome to the nuthouse.... Glad you're here to hang with us monkeys.

Welcome!
Couple of things, if you don't know the KDP has been tabbed, DO IT NOW! ( Killer Dowel Pin for the search term )
Next, if you do the older swap, butcher up the 88 core support to get the intercooler in, the 01.5-93 Intercooled core supports are becoming very difficult to find........ Hang it in the garage for some poor dude who needs it, besides it will be easier to make the older core support accept the intercooler than it is to move the headlights to the older position.
Good looking truck!

Thanks for the welcome guys!
I did a lot of lurking before I joined the forum, and have just received my large order from rock auto. The contents are 3" rear brakes from the 350, wheel cylinders, all adjusters, water pump, front end gasket set for KDP and a supply of filters. I'll be taking care of it this weekend....hopefully
