I guess I'll have the muffler installed with the 4" going in on Friday, and then have it pulled and tri it without. See if I can feel any real difference.

Thanks

(i'm on PBB, by the way)
Maybe you could have them put flanges on it so that you can just bolt on the straight pipe and then when the smoke policing time come you can just unbolt the straight pipe and bolt the muffler one.......temporarly!

Ai think what you are asking is, would the straight pipe be leagle.....?

In emissions vill, no, it wouldn't be, but when he would bolt on the muffler it would be. just to pass the i'm and inspection!

I however don't have to deal with eather one of them In Wy!

Did that answer you question?

some claim that a muff does help with exhaust scavenging, as in the huge 4 or 5" straight thru donaldsons or equiv. but the stock mufflers on our first gens were restrictive so removing it would definitely up your performance by lowering backpressure.

before you get your hart sadnly set on a muffler, find out what the law in your state, county is!
the rules are a lot less on the old suff!!

There is allso a muffler out there that is just a straight pipe with i muffler shell that would get you past the i/m and inspection station

The annoying thing with straight pipe may only come when you are towing I.E. loaded up all the time. Have fun.

Kinda OT,
Are you building a full width toyota?
