New to 1st gens. Any advice

I just bought a 91 D250 2wd single cab. I already have a 05 that is built to the hilt, but when it comes to the old 12v I have to admit im a bit of a novice. Any tips on things I should take care or keep an eye out for. First thing im gonna do is the KDP and maybe a couple gauges. Also whats the story in running WMO in these trucks? I dont do it in my CR but I hear these pumps and injectors arent as fragile.

Yea tab the KDP, install gauges. good ideas

Is it auto or 5spd ??

If you haven't already...check out the sticky for some simple pump tweak videos to get you moving, even before gauges

I know of guys on here running 50/50 filtered WMO and diesel...

Sorry, its an auto. Not sure if its a 727 or a 518 though.. I pick it up from AZ on wednesday. Good call on the pump but I heard these trucks can runaway if you turn it up too much. I may pick up a 14mm pump head and have a pump shop turn it up one day. For now she is gonna stay pretty stock.

if you want reliability dont put a 14mm head on it i have heard of guys that put one on and put it on the dyno for the 1st time and the engine runs away and blows everything up, bad idea imo

Good looking Ride, Few dings here and there, but looks free of Rust. Defiantly could be a sleeper with a few mods. The potentiometer helps with the final shift into Overdrive. It gives you the ability to adjust it to your liking and you'll never have to let off the skinny pedal again to get it to shift. Good luck with the old 12v.

nice truck..

don't worry about a 14mm pump or a P-pump.

350-400hp is very very doable in a 1st gen

But since the truck weighs 4000lbs when you turn the pump up and add a good fuel pin, maybe a TQ it'll feel like a rocket. maybe not compared to your 05 but you'll have 1/4 the money into your 1st gen and smile will be just as big

You don't need to do the potentiometer if the TPS isn't messing up. If it shifts properly and stays in OD when it's supposed to you can wait. Looks like a nice truck.
