Need some wiring help.

I swapped the wire harness from the 92 into the 91 and need some help. I have things plugged in and cannot find the power lead that runs the fuse block under the dash. The harness was hacked into and patch repaired over the years by the previous owners.

Im at the point of frustration if I cant get the issues worked out soon im going to just rip it all out and make a new harness.

1 of the 2 big wires that hook to the positive battery terminal, they go into fuseable links

The hot lead coming from the starter? Not the battery cable, but the small one? I have that hooked up. I need to try again tomorrow after work to see if even the lights are working.

The main underhood harness has 2 connections that hook to the positive battery terminal. they go right to the fusible links on the inner fenderwell driver side, i don't know how you can miss them LOL

One larger one is for the alternator, and the other goes for the starter solenoid. Is that the 2 your talking about? Or are you talking about the big lead for the grid heaters?

Anyone have a wireing diagram?

Like I said, this thing was pretty hacked up........

Those two fat black wires that Crossy's son speaks of go ONLY to the grid-heater solenoids and have nothing whatsoever to do with powering anything else, regardless of year-model.

They are laying dis-connected on every truck we have owned.

There is ONE --- maybe 4-AWG --- black cable that on a new truck is actually spliced in with the big starter-cable at the HOT battery-terminal.

This SINGLE black cable has a plug-in dis-connect about a foot away from the battery.

It proceeds un-spliced until just under the larboard-side hood-hinge, where it is molded into a "duck-foot" and becomes a whole bunch of fusible-links.

The fattest GREEN fusible-link is the continuation of that black cable and it proceeds across the fire-wall and forward to the alternator without being spliced into again.

Other than the big starter-cable and the pink and brown starter-solenoid wires, EVERY electrical function of the truck begins at those fusible-links at the duck-foot connection.

Myself, I would sieze the opportunity to be completely rid of the troublesome factory wiring mess and build a "harness" of my own making with BIG wire and no assembly-line plug-n-play connectors, and NO FUSIBLE LINKS, nor would I use that truck-burning factory fuse-block.

Awesome! Thank both of you. I think my problem is I simply didnt have the thick black wire plugged in when I tried messing with everything. I'll hook it up today and see what happens. My fingers will be crossed all day till I get home. haha
