Shock help

I dont have a first gen, but...
My 95' 2wd needed shocks, so I went to the local guys and got the best I thought money could buy. I picked up some Monroe's. When I put them on and went for the first test drive, I was not happy. It road the same way the 200K+ mile o.e.'s did, floated all over. I just recently installed a set of Bilstein's, HOLY COW. They are not even in the same ball park. They were like 10$ a piece more and worth every penny. They are nice and firm, very responcive. This will be the only truck shock I ever buy.

hey-Hey!!!,
Second the Bilsteins. I only have them on the front of my 2WD but they're quite good. I wish I could get the Sport Valve option for them... stiff is good. I ran them in my Saab 900 turbo( and those were Sport Valved ) and found them to be Just Right...
cheers,
Douglas

Bilsteins or Rancho's, you can't go wrong with either for quality IMO, but they will ride and feel a bit different from each other.

For my D250 it is BE5-2514-HO. These are longer and softer vs. the B46-0925-HO which were *WAY* too short to mount( nearly full extension at rest ). I got the 0925 'cause I wanted the stiffest...and discovered the length 'thing'.
cheers,
Douglas
