Need New Tires..........
Had a blow out one drivers side last night, 110F, put spare on and now I'm looking for a new set of tires.
I've been running Michlien XPS's with good results but they also ride real rough and I need a little more confort.
Anyone running this brand of tire: Yokohama Geolandar HTS in 235-85-16E, if so how do they stand up. I also carry a 2800 pound cab over camper some of the time. From some stuff I have read on the internet about this tire they seem to be good, some what cheaper than the XPS's also. The michlean XPS's Ribbed are a good tire for the highway but not good on wet pavement
So any info on this tire would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance. If you feel it's not propper to post you likes and dislikes about this tire please PM me.

i am running BFG TA KO's... 235/85... i love them... just drove from tenn to NY, quiet, smooth with aggresive look and supposed to be great moderate offroad. came from mich XPS and paid less for the bfg's with much better traction
Michelin LTX 245/75/R16/E are what I've been using the last 5 yrs. (2 sets)
Tried the BFG All Terrain but went back to the michelins. I also carry a 10' camper loaded over 3000 lbs. and pull a small trailer and the tires work great on & off road. Ready for another set this summer."These trucks sure go through tires!

I'm running Michelin LTX 235/85/16s and love them. They wear very well, ride great, and grip decently well for a mostly street tire.
I have a small cabover I haul (~7700 pounds truck & camper combined), and tow my Jeep on the trailer frequently. Even with everything loaded up (~14k lbs total) it handles very well.
The Michelins are expensive, but I think they're worth the money for the miles you get out of them alone.

I am running BFG KO's 285s on my truck and they have been great so far. I have 57,000 miles on this set and they look like they will go another 20 or 30K. I spend a lot of time driving electrical power line right of ways but most of my miles are highway. I will buy another set of BFG's when these are worn out.
I'm running the yoko geolanders. Had em about 3 years now no rotation and they're holding up great. I'll get them again when it's time to replace them, which will be a few years out. I would of got the bfg, but couldn't afford them. These do just as good in my opinion.
I've had the Geolanders AT2s and loved them. They wear good and the wet, snow and light mud traction is very good. I had nearly 40 on them when my 2nd gen was totaled. I may buy a set for my 1st gen now too. If the other Yokohamas are as good and as reasonably priced as mine were I would highly recomend them.

Tire Update........
Well after I cooled down from the tire blowout and tire changing on the side of the freeway I decided to stick with the Michlien XPS's.
The blow out was instantanous and only a few seconds of bounce before blow out. There was plenty of tread left on the tire and was wearing evenily. The other front tire was in good shape also. The belt seperation was attributed to tires that are 4-5 years old and being run in the southwest in high heat, when it is 115 plus in the shade you can only guess what the road temperature is. See below on why the other front tire was warrentied.
The tire outlet I have been dealing with for years here in the Phoenix area warrentied the blowout and the other front tire so I bought two new ones for the rear. Buying two new ones for the rear with replacement and road hazard certificates and mounting and ballancing was cheaper than buying four new Yokomaha tires by about 200.
I'm still statisified with the performance of the XPS's other than the rough ride sometimes and the availability is better in the western states.
I have been lax in checking the ballance on the previous tires because they seem to stay in good balance but when the tire outlet tried to spin ballance the other front to check it out there was a bulge (belt seperation) in it also. This time I plan on having them checked on a 5-7K miles basis to stay on top of the situation. Plus I think I'm going to remove the balancers I run on each tire to see if that helps in knowing when something is starting with the tires.
Also. if your tires are at or approching 4-5 years in service. appear to be in good shape and run in high heat areas better be getting them checked out.
Just a heads up.
