Need help with first gen sheetmetal interchangeability
Need help with first gen sheetmetal interchangeability
I am restoring my 1993 D250 truck and to my knowledge Dodge redesigned the front clip on this body style in late 1990 so the hood, front fenders and grill are different from earlier models; right? So when I look online for an aftermarket replacement hood they state 1988-93 the same part number, and the front fenders they say 1981- 93 are the same also. I contacted both of my local dodge dealers for there opinion and parts availability and the parts are no longer available and their cross reference was way off like 1977 -93 for these parts! My local junk yards don't have any dodges. I need to sort this info out so I can order these parts right the first time. Thanks in advance! Jim. Central California.
Hoods, doors, fenders all interchange from 81 - 93, I believe.
Grilles and radiator core supports differ. 89 - 91 had one grille / core support combo, 91.5 - 93 a different combo to accommodate the intercooler.
You could try AAA Dodge or All Dodge Truck in Sacramento, but they want top dollar for parts (60% - 80% of new parts prices, plus shipping). The Pick-n-Pull yards sometimes get some Dodges, but you have to check them frequently or somebody else gets the good parts.
