Need help Choosing a 6" lift
Thanks for your replies. I would like to go with the 6", I am looking into getting a crossover steering system but don't know where to begin searching of who makes a good kit.
It was mentioned that I should install a Borgeson Steering Shaft, where could I buy one that is for my rig?
With regards to front driveshaft vibrations, if they do occur, how could I eliminate them?
Thank you again for all of your help!!

crossover steering is here: http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog...0crossover.htm

As for the borgeson shaft. Sometimes they are on eBay. Or PDR has them, that's where I bought mine IIRC
Last time I priced out a 6" lift it was going to be around $2k plus shipping for the 6" skyjacker kit, 4 new nitro shocks and a highsteer crossover steer system. If I ever actually do lift my truck, that's what I'll be doing. IMO it's not worth doing a drop pitman arm and adj. drag link. For the cost you may as well go with the crossover system.

I just installed the skyjacker kit in my 92. You dont need a adjustable drag link if u get a borgeson shaft, which i highly recommend anyway. my truck leans a little to the drivers side, trying to work that out. And the front ubolts that came with the kit were not long enough, so cost me another 40$ to get new ones from a spring shop made up. there is a small driveline vibration in 2nd gear under acceleration. my front driveshaft might have been to short... but i replaced the entire shaft with a heavier, high angle shaft for 300$ built and installed at a driveline shop. the bushings on my steering stabilizers are crap, and have already pounded out in under 1500km's of highway driving... but im sure they have warrenty. Im running 37x13.5x17r nitto mudgrapplers with a 10" wide and heavily offset rim. but they still rub on the pitman arm and draglink joint. My steering is a bit sloppy and the tires like to grab everything on the road so im getting a crossover setup. A guy i went to school with owns and runs NorthWest FabWorks. He has decent prices and good quality... www.northwestfab.com
Does anyone know if a 2wd steering box will bolt up on a 4wd truck?? for the cross over setup u need a 2wd sector shaft... i need to reseal the box and its worn anyway, can i just get a 2wd re-man gear box??

The borgeson shaft is a good investment, though i kindof made my own ut of a pto universal and an old sector shaft...farmboys and mig welders..lol
if you get front vibrations it will only happen in 4wd.. keep your tires balanced, brakes and bearings in check and grease your universals...if it persists your lookin at a high angle shaft
Randy's ring and pinion has all you need for everything

no you bolt the 4wd box into the 2wd holes in the frame under the bracket..ill find the how to on ramcharger central when i get home from work
Nice looking '89 there avengerdude27. I made a custom "borgesen" using a u-joint assembly welded to the metal "housing" that goes over the splines for the steering box end and then just welded the other side to the bottom of the steering shaft. Now it has a rag joint on one side and a u-joint on the other. I can't remember where I junkyarded the part from though. Got any pics of the shackle flip on the rear? Did you use the stock shackles or go longer? I have a custom set of hangers already made to install on my crew cab so I can ditch the stock blocks in the rear.
Its nice to see O.R.D making a cross over kit that actually looks like it works. Back in the day, maybe 5 yrs ago when I was looking to do cross over on my wheelin truck, they sold a kit that you had to notch the engine cross member. So I engineered my own that works awesome but requires a decent size lift. Here is a few pics.
On the lift kit, there are many options, I would stick with skyjacker, most of the time there springs are pretty good. I would do whatever I could to eliminate the rear blocks, possibly with a shackle flip, then maybe a 4 or 6" spring to get you the lift you want. up front definatly go cross over if going over 4", or else drop pitman arm and adjustible drag link, but for a few bucks more, I would go cross over. Also I would try to stay at 6" or under, the angle on the front drive shaft becomes pretty steep, have to grind out the cv to get it to clear, definatly need to get it lengthened no matter what. God luck, don't be afraid to hit me up on ??

the rear hangers are shorter the fronts are lower and the shackles are longer

before o got the new front hangars on and paint

jeez look at the angle on that front driveshaft!
