Need help Choosing a 6" lift

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and new to the w250. I just bought my pride and joy a 1991 W250 4x4 5.9l CTD reg cab long box with only 125000kms on it from from the original 84 year old owner. I'm still smiling!!

I would like to lift it 6" but amlost as to which components to select and from which manufacturer. Leaf springs are ne ground for me, I used to drive a lifted Jeep TJ with the coil spring suspension.

Can someone please tell me what I would need to have a complete kit? Drop pitman arm, lift, brakelines if needed etc. I looked at the 6" Skyjacker but it seemed incomplete component wise.
Any steering issues?
Do I need shim plates to adjust pinion angles?
Do I have to do anything with my driveshafts?

Who makes a decent lift for my truck? It will be used as a weekend warrier daily driver, mild 4x4'ing.

Thanks in advance for all of your help,

Z

You may want to look at pro comp, I dont know about the dodge but we put a lift on my previous managers powerjoke and it was the most complete kit ive ever seen. New u bolts spacers for the carrier bearing new sway bar links, drop pitman all the good stuff!

I had a 6 inch kit on my gasser and it was a very nice and complete kit from skyjacker. I had no problems with anything on that kit. The only driveshaft mod I had to make was a 1 inch spacer for the front driveshaft. But that was on a gasser it might be different for you.

I run two trucks with the 6 inch skyjacker kits. A '85 crew and a '72 reg cab stepside. Get the 4 inch king pin and block that Superlift makes that bolts under steering arm and you are good to go. The steering will be a little more on one side then the other. I had to do no other mods[other than cutting a little of the lower wheel well in the front] I didn't want too tall of a trail rig and I wanted to run 38x15.5R15 TSL radials on the old stepside. Both are gas rigs, 318 and a 360. After 9 years of trail abuse [Rolls, flops, flips, mud up to the headlights and a little gravity testing thrown in for good measure] the old '72 sits a little lower and a little uneven with a dent or two.

When I convert my '85 to a CTD I might look at Deaver spring for a
"custom" ten leaf pack for the front depending on how the truck sits with a CTD over it. I don't wheel the crew cab hard so a spring pack with more leaves might ride a little smoother. I could also up the weight load to deal with the heavier motor. I think a set of front springs from Deaver was about the same $ of the Skyjacker kit though.

that would be the kit, but it only comes with 4" rear packs which is why i built new hangers to delete the blocks and let it twist...

just to get the antiwrap bars on now

a 6" kit that levels the truck is only going to use a 4 inch rear leaf . the 6" rear springs are for a halfton application with 8 inch fronts. my opinion the rates were too soft for a 3/4 ton diesel.

What I would do and what I will be doing on my crewcab is going to Cross Over Steering makes it a whole new truck as for being able to turn no more slop in the steering and work's so much better to get a idea of the set/up Google dana 60 crossover steering you will see a few companies that sell kit's my last kit took less then 3 hour's to install and only think that broke when I rolled the truck was snapped the shaft off the box nothing else broke or bent .

since i never really answered all the questions you had ill finish here

if youre not planning on crossover steering, get an adjustable drag link.

on my skyjacker the shim plates were on the springs already.

and front is the only issue you may have on driveshafts depending upon how much lift you go
