Need to disable wastegate on hy35, how?

Alright so i'm pretty sure my wastegate on my hy35 turbo is opening at 30 lbs and I wanna get more lbs. My truck will get a lot louder, it will smoke a little and it will start getting hot when i hit 30 lbs of boost so I'm pretty sure the wastegate is opening. This turbo already has the J-hook on the actuator and it does help a little bit so i can get more lbs of boost. Like without the J-hook, I can only hit about 25 lbs. The other day, I disconnected the actuator from the little wastegate lever on the side of the exhaust housing and put a spring on that little lever so it would hold it closed, I took it out for a spin and it wouldn't boost at all, I had no power and it smoked like crazy. Its like the turbo wouldn't even work without the actuator hooked up. So how can i disable my wastegate so i can get more boost? I know I can get more out of it. I'm new to all this wastegate stuff cuz i just had the h1c before so i'm tryin to learn more about it. thanks

Re-connect the actuator and put a pair of vice grips on the wastegate hose.

If you want more boost then you need to put a tunbuckle on the wastegate. The J-hook is made to open around 35psi, and if your spring is weak I guess it is possible that it is opening at 30 intead. If you go to the hardware store and get a cheap $2 turnbuckle it will shut it completely. They say the hy-35's are being overspooled at anything over 35psi so that is why the J-hook is designed to open at 35. I have mine turnbuckled but try not to go over 35 too much, but I tend to forget alot!

If your wastegate has an adjustable actuator you can set the opening pressure. If it does not you can add a boost elbow (about $25.00) and just leave it closed.

I've already tried tightening the actuator and i got it about as tight as i dare go, it was gettin really hard to turn with the pair of vice grips. And i have the J-hook as tight as it will go. I think the spring isn't resisting enough though and its lettin it open a little bit. I think i will try the turnbuckle thing and see what it does.

You need a manual boost controller which changes how much air the wastegate actuator sees. You can make one or buy one.

You can also pinch off your hose with vice grips then the only way the wastegate could open is with drive pressure.

Get some injectors and then you'll blow right past that sissy charger's wastegate.

I know, I'm just takin it one step at a time, I can't afford injectors and a big turbo yet. My money is gonna go into my trans next so i can get the power to the ground. The guy that gave me this hy35 said he would sell me a Super B for cheap so i might get that and see what it does.

Well i went to the hardware store and picked up a turnbuckle for $.89. I took the J-hook off and put the turnbuckle on and tightened it up...then i took it for a spin. The wastegate is definately staying closed! I can hit 34 lbs of boost where before i could only hit 30. This thing definately has more top end now and pulls harder. Its just where i want it for now, I don't wanna try and push anymore boost yet cuz i don't wanna blow a headgasket or do some head work. I don't have the money for that yet, So i am happy with the way it is now! thanks for the help guys! $.89 got me 4 more lbs of boost!!!
