My truck burns oil when cold?
Well this has been baffling me for a while so I'll explain as best I can as to whats going on. When I first start my truck up and its cold out (<5*C) it burns oil. Its nothing at idle but when you start driving it, it smokes BAD 
. I let my truck warm up every morning for about 10 minutes and lately I've been plugging it in to help speed up the warm up time. After it warms up, it doesn't burn oil, just diesel 
So what could be going on in my motor? Shot valve seals or what?

hey i just want to chime in and say i don't think it is anything to worry about. i don't know exactly what it is but i'm pretty sure it normal. with the grid unplugged i get a lot if i don't plug the truck in. if i had to guess the grids cycling can keep up with the volume of air (heating it for a sufficient burn) but if you start cruising down the road before the truck is warmed then the grids can keep up with the volume of air. once the cylinders are warmed you get a full burn even with cold air coming in so no more smoke.
now like i said that's my guess i could be way off, someone will tell me if i am!

Bluish white or white smoke is not unusual when the engine is cold. Like Miciafied said, it's incomplete combustion due to cold cylinders. To verify this, go stand in the cloud. 
You will note that it smells like diesel, not burning oil. And your eyes will water a little. 
Check to make sure there is power to the KSB solenoid when the engine is cold. A bad KSB switch will make it smoke worse than normal.

It could have a timing issue. But, I'd suggest this, start it and go drive it. The idling is not recommended by Cummins.
Go find a trailer, load it and go pull it for a few hours.
I bet it cleans up this issue.
I don't know how this truck gets treated but the Cummins is happiest when worked.
