My New Truck

Well, after months of sort of looking for a diesel dodge truck, my old gov surplus 77 dodge M880 4x4 work truck pushed me into it when its tired old automatic tranny gave way, leaving me truckless (not a good feeling! :-[ ). So i borrowed a bunch of money and commenced to shop. Boy I sure learned to hate used car dealers quickly! But yesterday I drove 300 miles to finally get my truck from a private party. Its a '92 CTD 3/4ton 4X4, 5 speed, with a really nice powder-coated diamond plate flatbed, with toolboxes underneath, made by the guy who I bought it from. He was the second owner, and had it from 17K to 190K miles. he said other than brakes last year and u joints he hadn't really ever had to do much with it. His was a religious changer of oil and at one point installed a coolant filter on it as well. The only "performance" thing that seems to have been done is a straight pipe. It has a slightly cracked windshield, slightly peeled paint in a couple of spots, a somewhat broken down seat edge on the driver's side, and needs new rubber. My payment will be more than offset by the mileage improvement over old M880 (4.10 gears, 8 mpg). I had a pretty sweet ride home..I have to say I am pretty darned stoked ;D Only bummer: my insurance agent says that the flatbed puts it on my commercial policy as opposed to my personal auto policy and it will cost TWICE what the M880 cost for basic liablility..

>

still, the mileage gains will pay that too... Anyone wanna buy an old M880 that needs a tranny?

8)

Re:My New Truck

That mileage is not even an issue if he took care of it like you said. Drive and enjoy.
