Question mph ques?

Alright guys sumthin has got to be going on here,Ive turned up the "power screw" done the star wheel, and because of all the recent talk on the subject ground my fuel pin, although I could probably take it a little farther.Off the start the truck gets up pretty good, through the gears it seems to pull pretty hard and Im making about 20 -25 lbs of boost while accelerating. However,I cant hardly make anything over about 75-78 mph.Should I look at my throttle linkage next or what?

If you're talking top speed, you should have looked at your throttle linkage first All of the mods you've done have nothing to do with when the pump starts to defuel....it will fuel harder to that point, but the factory governor spring will start pulling the fuel back at the same RPM regardless of power screw settings, ground pin etc. Have someone cycle the throttle pedal to WOT while you watch the linkage on the pump. You'll likely find that the linkage on the pump istself is not even hitting the 'high idle' stop. The turnbuckle on the linkgage will give you some more throttle. There are other tricks to throttle travel that escape my mind right now. Fellas--time to chime in here!

Mine stopped up against the fuel inlet line until I fixed that by grinding a little off the back of throttle lever with a dremel tool.

I see you have a N I C 91, is it an auto, if so you are wound out at 75-78 mph. Only ways to get any more speed is to put in a 3k gsk, or overdrive.

3200 spring, plain and simple. It should then get you past 90 but not much. With my truck, it pulled hard until 70 before the spring. Then after the spring, it pulled hard until 80 and topped off at 92-95. People look at me weird when I tell them it can only go to 90 but then I say it goes fast to 90! And a PS owner found out the hard way

If you do put it in could you take LOTS of pictures and write a total newbie's guide to installing one I know of at least one person who would LOVE to read all about it :-)

The one in the sticky is actually pretty good and detailed. Only took me an hour or so to do it.

I followed the sticky as well. Very informative and complete.

As for my top speed, my speedometer will get up to 90mph, but my actually speed is low 80's. It may have gone faster, but the truck is screaming for mercy at that level.

What RPM are you at, and what gearing do you have. When I am out of OD my limit is 70 mph. Rpm tops out at 2500 on a good day. I am going to put on a fuel pressure gauge to see exactly what is causing my limit. Could just be your lift pump.

I know this guy with a '92 that pulls good and hard to 105mph then he backs off due to the pyro. I know he has a 3200 spring in a 5sp w/ 3.54s.

Thats the guide I used just the other day. I've never been in a pump before and this made it pretty easy.

Same here... while the pics are a bit deceiving (that there's actually room to get to the parts) they're dead on.

Give me a holler if you need a hand putting in the 3200 spring bro... you can bring the
