Question Most HP possible without upgrading drive train.

Have had my eyes on a few 92 or 93 Rams out there. Wondering how much HP I could get out of the motor without upgrading the drive train on a 5 speed.

Thanks.

The stock clutch will hold a bit over 300 HP.

It's a long walk from a stock auto to a getrag with a stock clutch. I'd guesstimate my truck to have about 260/6** at the rears and my original clutchs holds full power in 5th with no problems. I don't put all the coals to it when towing, but I can apply enough to yank 10k up a decent grade at 65.

You got that right. It takes some good scrapmatic parts to make one put 300+ to the rears. IMO you can't even compare a stock 1st gen auto to a Getrag.

I dynoed 355hp about 4 years ago on a stock clutch and getrag and it never slipped on the street. As a matter of fact the only time I slipped it was when I tried a 3rd gear launch....didnt like that much. The stock setup will hold a good bit.

Your right the stick shift is a different animal. I was speaking only for the autos.
