micro lock style parking brakes?

has anyone switched their parking brake to the old micro lock set up like the kids in HS used to be able to hold the front wheels while burning rubber?

When I had my truck towed to that stupid shop, they broke my parking brake somehow. It was already a little tired and needed to be finessed and of course, those apes just jammed it so hard that something broke.

I would think that micro locking the front brakes would be preferred in case of a faulty dump valve in the RWAL letting the truck roll away...

Or should i just go to the junkyard and try to find a new assembly for what I've got?

I am currently replacing the entire parking barke system in my 93 dually. So far the parts have set me back about 70$ total....
the rear cables from NAPA were about $42 for both, the front cable and the cable adjuster from the dealer about $21 and the pedal assymbly was $5 from a salvage yard out of an old ramcharger...

I have MICO brake locks on everything, except the wife's Dodge.

I love them.

To learn much more, read this thread:

It about covers it.

I was looking at something like this, and not have to run the extra brake line...

I guess though it would be pulling juice from the battery all the time, so it wouldn't make a great long term parking brake. I was thinking that I would put it on the front brakes since I'm not sure I trust my RWAL valve. And then it woudn't be so convenient to have it on the floor next to the seat...

most of the industrial vehicles I have ever used, like Unimogs and forklifts and log loaders, have these kinds of parking brakes.

I am already missing having a working parking brake in a big way, so if I can find the parts in teh wrecking yard, i may have to go with the stock fix for now, but i would like to switch to a line lock sometime.
