Michelin Military tires
look for 9.00 x 16 XZL, this is what I hope to have for my next tires. they are about 36" tall and real narrow. I think dodge92 (I can not remember if it is him or not) is running XML's,
someone here is running some....

I ran the Michelin XML's in 335-80 R20 on a Powerstroke for about 45K and they had at least 5K left when I sold the truck. Those were right about 40" tall. With a spin balance and equal balancing powder they ran smooth and true. They were heavy, but last great for such an aggressive tire.
I had these too on a 1ton converted Ramcharger. They rode fairly well on the road but were too hard to be much good in the rocks or dirt.
I got mine from a place called armytires.com, DON"T USE THESE GUYS.
It was supposed to be a 2 week deal, ended up taking 3 months.

Plus 3 of the 5 tires had been patched, 2 had a sidewall patch.

My buddy is a major Mercedes Unimog guy. So he's had these tires in the past. He says he hates the XL for wet roads and snow and ice. Like driving on an ice pond he says. His recommendation is the newer Michelin XML or XZL. But you'll have to mortgage your house for a set.
Don't get me wrong. I love the looks of them. And they perform moderately well in most conditions. I had a set on a Dodge M37 I used to have. They give a wonderfully smooth ride for the size of tire they are. And they DO last seemingly forever.
