Made my first pass tonight
I've stop light raced since before i got my license, but tonight i actually went down a legit 1/4 mile track. Holy crap there's a lot to pay attention to! And i way over estimated the traction on a decent track. I thought i could 2wd it if i didn't go to crazy on the launch, i was really wrong. 10 lbs psi launch resulted in spinning to 200 ft, i lifted/hooked and caught up with the nova next to me. i guess i put on a decent smoke show, but posted a pitiful 19 sec pass. I'm pretty sure I'm solidly into the 17's/high 16's if i remember to put her in 4x4 next time. Oh and my reaction time sucked, .9
Wanted to make more passes but a transformer blew earlier in the night and the whole place was running off a few generators donated by other racers so they finished the brackets and sent everybody home.
next weekend....

Those numbers are a great starting point. Build from there.
Yeah, that's how it starts.
Definitely run the entire pass in 4WD. 10psig boost is a good number to launch with a stock trans (IMO). Let off the brake/floor the skinny pedal about the time it registers in your head that the third yellow is on (adjust as needed).
(Ran a 12.81 tonight myself )

i'm thinking too that its a bad idea to be the first guy staged, i had to hold my turbo up for what seemed like forever waiting for the gasser next to me

Yeah, I prestage and wait till my opponent is fully staged, then (quickly) build 20psig or so and then fully stage.
It's been my experience that a 100*F increase in trans fluid temperature impacts my ET by .10 in the eighth.
Standing around at full launch boost waiting for the nut next to you to get around to it flash-heats the fluid in the converter FAST.

Learn to get a cadence going in your head when looking at the tree.
The three yellow lights come on in 1/2 second intervals. I try to hit it half way through the third yellow.
