Lug Nuts

Im taking off the aftermarket wheels of my 85 crew cab and going to Ford steel 16x7 wheels ..So I need to buy new lug nuts and was wondering what to buy..Will stock nuts work on the Ford rim or do I need a bigger shoulder nut..If so where would I find them...Thanks Jim

I have switched all my vehicles with the standard 1/2 thread lugnuts to the mid 90's dodge dakota lug nuts simply because they have a large cone and don't dig into the rims, believe they are Dorman 611-175.

The best lug nut for the big ford wheels I've found with the biggest cone is off of 2001-ish chevy astro vans.
Should be dorman 611-178 for 1/2 -20 thread

Also have used nuts off a 2005 ford explorer (dorman 611-199) to retain hub covers like if using the same era ford alcoas with the 94-99 dodge hub covers.

The dakota lugs work but didnt hold up to repeated torqings on my 93- they were getting gouged and I was losing engagement on the rear

I used Dorman 611-122... same idea as the Dakota... but chrome and close-ended. 3/4" hex.
