lowering the tail of a 4x4

I'm new to the forum and a new owner of a 91 2500 quad cab 4x4 with the factory towing package and camper package (overload springs and sway bar). I'm courious to see if anyone has taken an inch or two out of the back end of one of theese. I drop and hook loaded livestock trailers and some of the goose necks are a bit rusty and don't raise and lower easily. This truck will never leave the pavement so I don't really care about ground clearance.

Thanks for the feedback

Cowboy

Hey do a search for "leveling kits". Should bring up a lot of info. Just be careful that you don't get it completely level, or it might sag with the trailer on.

An old guy on my street has dug two furrows in the ground under his 5'th wheel so he can get his rig coupled easier but it doesn't sound like this will help in your case. I'd imagine to do it correctly you would have to re-arc the spring packs to take some arch out of them.

Seems you could just get blocks that are a bit shorter to replace the factory ones. The factory block has the bump stops built into them so you would have to come up with something diff. If you don't have a dent in your exhaust pipe yet you will after you lower it.

just find a set of shorter blocks,I used a set off of a f250 ,had to do a little grinding to make them fit,but now it sets level, and is a lot easier to get trailer hooked
