Low fuel light

My low fuel light is acting up. The fuel gauge reads fine all the time though. The low fuel light flashes in no steady pace. Its just getting annoying at night time. It will flash no matter how much fuel i have in the tank, but when I do get to the area where the low fuel light should kick on it does kick on and stay on without flashing like it should. Any ideas?

If you have a source to check (FSM) and see if the light runs off of the guage position or if it gets its signal from the in tank sending unit. I would say either a loose or coroded wire or a bad sending unit.

Had a similar problem with mine.
I dropped the tank and pulled the sender. Dismantle it carefully, clean the ceramic circuit substrate with a Q-tip and alcohol and re-bent the wiper such that it makes better contact with the ceramic substrate resistor circuit.
Fixed all my fuel guage problems.

The light has its own contact on the sender if I remember.

How can i fix where my fuel guage goes from around the 3/4 full mark to full every time i stop when it is around 3/4 or more in the tank, after i get it lower than 3/4 it stops doin it and stays steady, and my guage is miscalibrated cause when i fill up at a half tank it only taks 9-10 gallons instead of around 15, any comments would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if it is the blue, the green or the gray wire?

Wannadiesel:
Is the dk green with black stripe wire installed as part as the sending unit, or is it separate? Reason I ask is that the sending unit I pulled does not have a dk gr w/bk stripe, and when looking at the pics provided by BC### in N. Carolina in his write-up on big fuel line, he doesnot show a dk gr and bk wire either; just blue, gray, green. Perplexing!

I was going by the wiring diagram in my '93 FSM. YMMV.
