lost charge, speed, cruise, and O.D.

So, im stuck driving in city traffic 50miles home because I can't get on the freeway. No overdrive. I have this intermittent problem where I loose the alternator, speedometer, cruise, and overdrive all at the same time. Sometimes it comes right back in a mile or so, sometimes it will stay gone for days. Im thinking the crank position sensor is the only thing that would affect all 4 of those functions at once. Correct? Anybody know how to go about trouble shooting it? I have been over the wiring/plugs. It all seems fine.

Check the gap on the crank sensor. If that looks good and all the wiring is good it could be a bad crank sensor or a bad pcm. I would swap out the crank sensor and see what happens.

The PCM uses the crank sensor to turn on the Auto Shutdown Relay, which provides the power to all that stuff. So, you need to check that relay and its circuitry too. If you can find a scanner with data stream to hook up, you can verify if the RPM signal is present or not when the condition occurs. That would be a big help in your diagnosis.

Check your grounds particularly for the pcm, inspect the wiring particularly from the crank sensor, check the plugs I have found that taking them apart and spraying something like WD40, and then plugging them in and out a couple of times will sometimes help. Just my two cents, Mike.

Thank you gentlemen! I will check all that stuff! Does anyone know of an online source for the wiring diagrams for a 93'? I reference the 91.5' wiring diagrams in the "sticky" section here for my 4x4 all the time! But havnt found the info for my 93' 2x4 yet.
