Look what I just got

Hey guys just bought this 1985 W350 crew cab to put my '91 D250 Cummins/A518 drivetrain in. It is in good shape. A couple of dings and dents but no rust. I will be starting the heart transplant pretty soon.

Well let me know what ya'll think.

Well I don't know how much you gave for it, but looks like a great purchase. Be sure and post pics of the progress. I wish I could find something that straight w/ no rust.

Great starting point, once you get it running you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. I have done two and couldn't be happier.

$1700 and a trip from Ga to PA to pick it up.

My plan is to use the '91 dash, gauge cluster, steering column, wiring harness and seat. I picked up a used grille and core support off of a '92 a friend parted out. I am going to use the '91 Dana 70 rear. I figure I will have it going by the end of summer.

One question for ya'll that have done this. Will the engine mounts from the '91 transfer over to the '85 gas frame? To me the frames look the same in the engine bay area.

Thanks

They motor mounts are exactly the same. Under the hood the only thing I did was swap the left inner fender so the cruise and all the other goodies would have the right places to mount. You also have to move the big square hole that the wiring harness goes through the fire wall to the left a little. If it's a 5 speed doner you have to get the clutch linkage mounting hardware off from under the dash, and bolt it to your '85. It's a pretty easy swap.

That is a beaut! Good thing you didn't sell me your tranny. I was just thinking of calling you to see if you bought it.

In a divorced setup the T-case isn't attached to the tranny

How about a 6' bed?
I'd start on it now. How can you sleep?
Keep us posted.
