Lift Pump Losing Prime
Lift Pump Losing Prime
Hey Guys,,
I installed the new lift pump and it will not keep the prime to the injector pump. When it is left setting for an hour or over the motor must crank over several times before it will start. I have checked for leaks and I can't find any. I used thread sealer on the line that runs from the lift pump to the injector pump and the fitting that connects the lift pump to the rubber line running to the tank. Did I get a bad pump or is it something I am doing? Thanks for any help!

When I changed mine I did the filter at the same time,I left the filter loose and primed the line until fuel dribbled down the filter.I then tightened the filter back up,she fired right up no problems.Just my .02. marc
I changed one recently and cracked the aluminum female theaded suction fitting. (It was part of the pump casting) The old pump had a steal fitting
attached to the pump body. It didn't take much. I just got a little careless.

Hay bhoff1175 , I see your in Cotati CA. , I used to live there some yrs. ago , have you been there a while ?
To answer the post , try putting air pressure to the fuel tank [ 3-5 lbs. ] and look for leaks to lift pump , its hard to find leaks on the suction side of the system if only air goes in , with the tank presserized you should be able to see fuel , if theres a leak .
