Lets inject water into our engines

I've been researching the subject. Finding that building your own kit with high pressures is what the big boys are doing. I want to think we could do the same with our dinosaur technology. So I found that most guys are running the, http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...285408609&mt=e

I found, http://www.aeromist.com/misting-pump...-psi-pump.html

Now the 280 amp draw at full tilt boogy on the Haldex has me a bit worried. That's a butt load of draw. I like the very low 3.2 amp draw of the Aeromist. Not to mention the Aeromist is designed to run water threw it. BUT the 0.05GMP has me worried as it is at it's max flow potential with the two nozzles I'm looking at running from Devil's own.

So I guess my real question is has anyone on here ran the Haldex on a play truck that see's the street? Price isn't an issue but I want something that will last.

Thoughts, idea's tell me to just go buy a kit and don't play with all that stuff?

The link to the pump at northern tool is a hydraulic pump. Is that really what they are using??? No wonder it draws 280 amps I don't think I would try to pump water through it though.

By calculation of the hp and voltage the haldex would only draw 105A at full pressure (3000psi). I doubt you would ever be at full pressure with it so the draw would be much less. I do think it is way overkill for this application though. The aeromist should work fine.

Make sure the pumps are rated for methanol. I'v read that the methanol will ruin the seals in some pumps

Yes that's the pump some guys are running. I thought it was crazy too. I agree I probably won't ever see 280amps since it isn't a closed system, but still if I was pushing on the high end 90 amps that's still some heavy wiring and relays.

Thanks for the input guys.

I would be surprised if it would get up to 50A even.

Well the more I research it the guys who are using the Haldex pumps are just toy trucks that only go down the track. Thinking about it I doubt there is much service life on a street driven truck using that pump seeing it's designed to run hydraulic fluids. The Aeromist is a pump that is designed to make high pressure water for outside mister systems. As mentioned though probably not rated for Meth though. I would think I could get better service life out of the Aeromist pump though.

Doing the math it should support 4 2GPH Devils Own nozzles. I only plan on running two. My temps aren't out of control as of now. BUT with the pump I have coming and injectors I do believe I will need some cooling. I do not intend on running Meth threw the system. I may give it a try for a tank or a dyno run but not every time the truck is driven.

So lets talk about my next question. I've seen some of the big horse power guys running them into their custom built intake manifolds pointed directly at each intake runner. Seeing as I'm planning on only running two would it be best for me to drill into the intake at an angel and attempt to direct each nozzle away from each other? Meaning l put one facing the front 3 cylinder and the other going the other way?

Or should I try to run the 4 and split them up in the intake between each cylinder. I know it's a pressurized system so it doesn't really matter, or does it?

I dont think you will see much difference with only 2 2gph nozzels I run 1 #10nozzle from cooling mist for towing & another #5 for fun

You'll like a methanol solution if you try it. I use -20 wiper fluid most of the time, it cools good and adds a touch of power at the same time

Boost juice 51/49 mix adds more power but does'nt cool near as good. You can mix a bottle or 2 of Heat to distilled water to make a weak solution also.

Don't forget the more the pump is drawing off your charging system the more horsepower your alternator is consuming off your engine.

A pump drawing 280-amps will be drawing more than double what your 120-amp alternator can produce and kill your system in short order, like running your winch with your engine off.

The hydraulic oil lubricates and cools most hydraulic pumps, meth and water would probably kill it.

The guys that use the hydraulic pumps for water injection add some water soluble oil to help lube the pump a little bit.
