inject clicking

was doing some work under the hood of the truck today and i had the key turned on and i heard what sounde like a clicking or ticking under the valve cover.i turned the key of and it stopped.turned it to the run position and it ticked for about 2-3 minutes then stopped.this bugged me so i took the valve cover off and found that the number 1 and 5 injects were ticking,ie current was running to them,i assume to prepare for a start cycle.has any one ever noticed this ticking is it normal.i switched the wires from inject 1 to inject 2 and then it ticked, and in reverse when 2inject wires were put on 1 no ticking..just wondering if for some reason something has just started going wrong or is this normal and i am just know hearing it...thanks...

Mine ticks away if the key is on not running, I believe is the injectors popping thinking its running. I would assume that after a couple of minutes, the 0 engine speed convinces the ECM that it is not running after all. I may be wrong, after all, I'm due this month!!!!

I have noticed that, especially when I leave the key in the on postition for more than a few minutes and then it will go away. I have noticed this when trying to remove codes from the ECM using my laptop. First time I heard it it made me think a little, like wow is something wrong, but since I have experienced this many times, I chalk it up to being normal. But I did not know it was the injectors and glad to see this is normal as normal can be.

Thanks for posting this King. My 05 does it, too. Usually, I'll turn the key to on to put the front windows down, but won't start it until my wife has my son in his car seat.

I was considering posting your question, but just figured it was some sort of check system. I did pop the hood the first time I heard it, after waiting a bit, but it stopped before I could pin point where it was coming from.

Thanks for the info, Dave.
