Leg vent cover?

Good evening!

For the under the dash vent on the drivers side- do you have to take the emergency brake out to get the cover out?
I do believe it's leaking water on my floor- hoping to remove it completely to inspect things and then seal it up.
The real kicker will be how to do the passenger side with a/c?? Can it be moved out a 1/4 so you can back fill it with some caulk?

The passenger side is easier. I wouldn't calk anything though. It's probably your cowls leaking.

Yes , you have to remove the E-brake assy. to get the vent completely out.
Some have had success getting theirs to stop leaking, myself, I did not use it, so I cut the guts off of the kick panel and made an aluminum cover to seal the vent hole and then reinstalled the kick panel. No more leak, and looks like the vent is still there.

How's the passenger side going to be easier?? It's got a/c and that plumbs in the hole for the vent.

Thanks Slingshot- I got the screws out and wigggled it out about 2 inches. Top was still retained but I put a piece of strip cauk around the bottom and hope the screws pull it home to make a good seal.
It is going to rain all week- so I'll get a good chance to test.

I just had my cowl off to replace wiper arm bushings- no holes in the cab cowls that I could detect. Could be wrong, but this has only about 100k miles-hope it's too soon.

The vent on the drivers side can be removed without removing the ebrake. Didn't say it was easy though. There is 1 screw that looks impossible to get to but the ebrake bracket has a hole in it that if you scoot under there far enough you can see the hole and get the screw out. The cowl will be broke or cracked where it is covered by the fender and can be seen if you get a light and shine "with the cowl piece off" kinda under the fender where the cowl starts to round off. Mine was cracked back far enough to see without looking too far under the fender. Good luck.
