Rear seat leg room

Before I head down to the dealer I was wondering what you guys think of the rear seat leg room in the quad cab. I'm 5'11" on a good day and my oldest son is on his way to 6' (at 13 years old, yea I'm jealous). If I put the front seat back far enough for me to drive will he have enough knee room that he can sit with his legs forward and his knees not touch the seat back? Right now he's really uncomfortable in the extended cab I have.

In short, probably not. There's not a whole lot of leg room back there. I have to slide my seats forward any time someone rides in the back seats. :

I am 6' and with the seat back as far as I want, my almost 6' son has about 1-2" between the back of the seat and his knees. He loves it. It doesn't look that spacious until you get in there. Plenty of room! -Steve

Re:Rear seat leg room

Well I guess we'll just have to take the whole family (wife, three kids and myself) down there and try it out. I'm hoping that it is plenty big as I hate to have to buy the Ford instead. I like the Dodge better and I really prefer to have the Cummins engine (especially since I work for cummins). Nothing sounds better than a straight piped cummins going thru the gears.

have a good one.

Re:Rear seat leg room

trust me do not buy a new ford. i have plenty of buddies with the 6.0s kicking themselves because they didnt get the dodge. yes it is bigger and has a "real cab" but the engine is not realiable as of today.

I rode a short distance in the rear seat of an '03 2500 and was pleasantly surprised. I had plenty of leg room and I'm 6'-1". Not the story at all with my '97 ext. cab 1500.

Re:Rear seat leg room

Westport,

Would you rather have less rear leg room in the back of your cab or take the chance of having engine problems? Even though I wanted to get a F250, I went with the less rear leg room in the Dodge because of all the reported problems with the new 6L PSD. Believe me, if the problems weren't there in the new PSD, I'd be in one right now; especially since I've always perferred Fords and could have gotten a lower price with them VS a Dodge.

Re:Rear seat leg room

The only difference I notice when riding in the back seat of my buddies fords and chevys is that the dodge seat is more upright. the legroom seems the same, but you just sit straight up in the dodge and there is a bit of a recline in the ford/chev back seat. I have taken 4 guys all 6' or taller from Calgary to Spokane (8 hours) 3 times this year and have not heard anyone complain about the small back seat. I never have to adjust my seat either.

Re:Rear seat leg room

I also like the looks and the endless room of the ford crew cab. But I like and need the low end torque monster, big rig sounding Cummins engine better than the PSD.

Do you have the seat all the way forward or something? If I slide my seat back where I want it (almost all the way back), whoever sits behind me (even short folks) has to have their knees against the seat.

I don't see how you guys that are 6'1" and 6'2" can fit comfortably in the back seat. I'm 6'1" and if I get in the back seat I feel cramped...and my knees are pressed into the back of the front seat (unless I slide it forward).

Re:Rear seat leg room

I rode in the back of our river drop off truck for 20 mins. 03 qc. I sat on the passengers side and have no idea how far forward it was, but I had enough room to not be uncomfortable leg wise...now as far as sitting in the seat, not that great. Maybe nore comfy for shorter folk...I'm 6'5"...36" inseam...FWIW

Re:Rear seat leg room

There should be enough room. I took 4 guys and my self from Chattanooga to Bilouxie MS for a bachelor party 500-600 miles one way the smallest person being 5'10". No one really had any complaints other than being hung over .
