left blinker-headlight issues, alternator overcharge exploding battery syndrome?

heres one for all you dodge guru's. this truck is acting all crazy. when you start the truck, the left blinker light comes on by itself, doesn't blink. but when you turn the left blinker on, it makes the alternator start overcharging like at 18 volts. sometimes the left headlight flickers on and off. the alternator lugs the engine down when it is overcharging like crazy, the check engine light comes on when you turn the lights on and when you turn the lights off it goes off. the right blinker makes the alt overcharge-normal, overcharge-normal. like in sequence with the blinker. the overdrive quits working. and the speedometer and fuel guage is intermittant. and it explodes batteries too!!! NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!

Did you keep the Ford alternator/regulator, or try to retrofit the Dodge electrics ??

Also, un-screw the fuse-block from the floor and drag it out where you can see the big wad of wires.

There is a much-too-small TAN wire that feeds the head-light switch; it gets HOT, melts it's way out of the insulation, and eventually melts itself into some of the other wires, causing all sorts of weird happenings.

The problem IS with one of the Fords, right ???

Dodges never have electrical problems.. nope.. no way.

Sounds like the PCM is acting up (if it has one) 92-93

Check the main body ground, it's on the core support right in front of the battery.

Nope, it's not the PCM. You have a ground issue. Try a ground strap from the firewall to the engine.

ok!!! i fixed it thank u so much. i grounded the engine to the cab. fixed it. my blinker problem was the little round relay thingy was messed up, i guess 18 volts burned it up. any ways thanks a lot. its working perfect now. the windshield wipers still jacked up. i just un hooked them. i think 18 volts burned the windshield wiper motor up.
