Yup I will. They are heavier than I expected which is a good thing.

Looks ok to me. I wonder how the high beams will look too!

Not the OEM 5x7 sealed beam required replacement but for anyone with H4 housings, you can order the H4 bulbs. 2000 lumens is some good output!

I would think an LED light would need a different reflector than what an H4 housing is designed for, just my thoughts.

I took the plunge and ordered a pair earlier today. Purchased from Drivetrain America where they were found the cheapest per pair and per individual light. There was a link in the other LED headlight thread that was started.

Single $179

Pair $359

Jim,
That is a good deal, when you get them on let us know how it lights up the street signs and reflective safety markers, they are supposed to make them flouresce.

They need to make replaceable outer cover for the lamp to protect it from road debris and sandblasting.

Have any of the LED conversions offered any photometric data comparing them to SilverStars or regular halogen 6054's.

I would a little skeptical about the LED modules with the Lifetime Warranty, I am constantly replacing LED' that claim tens of thousand of hours all die within a few years.

$359.00 is still the cost of about 11 Silver Stars but they are worth it just for the cool factor although I do not think this generation of solid state devices will ever have the brute output of an arc or hot filament like a nitesun.

Jim, Do you still go to the truck club meetings there in OC?

I'll be sure to get some pictures. I'll do my best to get a comparison between the SilverStars and the LEDs. My headlight switch is now only lasting for about 5 minutes before the internal breaker opens. I bought a replacement switch at Napa on Thursday and am waiting until the LEDs arrive to install it.

As for a protective cover, Lamin-X has protective films that can be purchased in bulk sheets. Would be simple enough to cut to size and apply to the lenses. I think I'd go that route.

Those truck club meetings are still happening. I haven't made it out there in years but have given some thought to stopping by again soon. If the schedule hasn't changed, they're meeting on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. I'll keep in touch with you about it and see what you're up to sometime soon.

to change the subject, what did they do to the headlights in recent years

... the older vehicles had head lights that would light up the deer better? the deer eyes would reflect headlights ...now they don't

They put them behind a stylistic polycarbonate cover that rapidly gets fogged up by age and dirt, scattering the light.

And they used to shape the lenses so that most of the light left the housing going forward. Now some lights put as much light upward as they do forward. I hated getting passed by a VW new bug when I was driving truck. They'd blind you as the bumper passed your door.

All of the new headlamps have a definite cutoff unlike the older sealed beam lamp that would light up treetops,

Like j_martin mentioned, the fogged and yellowed headlight covers reduce the output to a soft glow also the new polycarbonate covers over the headlamps filter out frequencies of the spectrum not allowing all of the light to pass.

Or it could be that with all of the super illegal Hyper White headlamps on all of the ricers and Dub Escalades from California have blinded our wildlife and given them cataracts fogging their eyes.

This is what you need if you want to see deer in your headlights.
I have a friend that has this Night View Assist on her S-Class Mercedes and I want it..

Have you ever noticed the phenomenon of the sunlight or our headlights reflecting off our chrome grill, at night I can see reflective signs being illuminated by my headlights and even my LED turn signals well over a block away.
During the bright day sun I can see a wave of bright intense light leading my truck about 100 yards away.

Jimbo,
Is the Lamin-X protective films optically clear or slightly tinted?

Jim
