Unhappy KSB ??? And pump timing ???

Please help me, what is the KSB stand for ??? And we adjusted my pump about 1/8" towards the block and it has made absolutely no difference in throttle response or power ??? I am NOT sure if it ever had the pump timing adjusted before....but this made no difference.......hope you can help.....Canucktrucks

Not 100 % sure about this but just turning your injector pump about 1/8" towards the motor (advance timing) really doesn't give you power or response. It does but it doesn't. I think it allows you to take advantage of having it advanced so now with the pump mods (turning the power screw, smoke screw, among others), larger injectors, different turbo (those types of mods) the motor should run better as in less egt, smoother running, run better at high rpms.

I may be wrong on this but I do know my motor did perform better in the overall scheme compared to just one mod. Each mod does usually make the truck go better but it is the overall of the proper mods that REALLY bring out the performance of the truck.

KSB is short for "Kaltstartbeschleiniger", which is German for "Cold Starting Aid". Learned that one from Alec. The KSB closes the pump vent when the intake manifold temp is below 90 degrees, which advances the pump timing.

Advancing the timing doesn't make a huge difference, and you lose a little bottom end which makes spoolup take a little longer. It will make the top end a little stronger and help fuel economy as long as you don't go too far.
