Keeps poppin panel lamps fuse. HELP!!!!

Well all of a sudden the 91 starts poppin the INT./PANEL lamps fuse, (dash lights, heater control light) .I put in another fuse and As soon as you hit the headlight switch. POP. I've tried 3 ampers, 5's and 7.5's ... pops them all right away... it had a 3 in it from the factory

All i did was install a stereo today, and i had the dash lights working today WHILE listening to the new radio. Because i removed the cluster, and painted it white inside to brighten things up. Put the cluster back in, hit the lights and was like SWEET. (worked good) AND was listening to stereo at the same time so i know it has nothing to do with the stereo..

3 hours later it pops every pnl. lamp fuse i put in there. dome light and all guages still work of course.

I'm beside myself.

Maybe a pinched wire that finally rubbed through. Dead short somewhere.

Nope, Nothing in the ciggy lighter, its all hooked up and works fine. Can you tell me what the dime would've meant?

Yesterday I removed the information center and made a plate to go there to hold some gauges, Last night i ran the boost line down BEHIND the heater control, I had to put my hand up in there and search for the boost line.

Thats the only thing i've done since i had the guage lights working yesterday...

Maybe a wire back there where i had my hand rubbed through or something.

I got the problem solved.

Turned out to be the dash lighting wire coming out of the stereo adapter harness, I didn't need to use it when i spliced the wires from the stereo to the adapter so i just left it hanging there. it grouned out.

If you get a coin down in the lighter socket it will knock out the dash lights and the taillights when it pops the fuse. BTDT with my old '85 D250.
