K5 CTD gearing ?

Some of you know I'm building a cummins powered Blazer. I already have a chevy D60 and 14 bolt both open in 4.10s. I have a chance to get a set of military 1 tons out of a m1028 basically a D60 with a lock rite and a 14 bolt with a detroit both with 4.56s with 77k on them. They come with wheel spacers & 5 H1s with goodyear run flats for 1450.00. I was gonna put a detroit in my 14 bolt and a ls in my 60 anyway but this would be way cheaper. I could sell my setup for atleast a grand now and maybe even more when the economy gets back to normal.

So should I go for it, will I like or hate the gears. I plan on runnin 35" tires and the run flats are 37s I think.

Yeah it is alot of gear and I think I'll pass on the 4.56s for my more hwy frindley 4.10s even though I will frequent some the roughest rocky mountain logging roads in the state in pursuit of trout, mule deer, grouse and the occasional elk Thanks for the replies.

ratio

your 4.10's will give a great low ratio, and od with the nv4500 5th gear, you might option a future off road designs doubler, giving a 1:1, 2:1, and 4:1 low ratios, if your rock crawl serious. im running a 1:1 final, on 35" bfg's, with 3.54 ratio, about the same, giving a decent 70 mph rpm, my doubler low, is ssslllooowww, xlnt for downhill braking,.

I'd go with the 1ton axles and H1 wheels. It may not cruise very fast but it would look sweet and have some serious grunt off road. At 65mph it would run 2k rpms. Not that bad with 4.56 gears.

plug in some numbers here. http://www.f-body.org/gears/

Cut the fenders lol. Then you can fit 38s and be laughin with your gear situation. And have ground clearance for those pesky 14 bolt pumpkins.

Well I'll go for it after all, between the 4" springs, 1" body lift and 1" zero rates I'll be at 6" of lift with a 3" streched wheel base to 109.5" And if a 37"-39" tires will get me to atleast 65-70 @ 2000-2500 rpms that should be more than fast enough for this thing and a huge + in the fun factor not to mention the out put of my 5.9 cummins

4.56 ratio with 37's is about the same as 4.10's with 32 inch tires.
