Just bought my first diesel...89 d250 ctd

Finally bought my first diesel for a project truck (rusted out) two days ago.
Always wanted one...dad has a ford 7.3 and a 6.0 excursion with 210K I tow with a lot.
Buddy has an 03 cummins...def the way to go.
Mine's a 89 d250 reg cab with a 727.
Everything works with about 187K on her.
Drove it 10 miles home for $1,200.
Runs/shifts great with no leaks except the gearbox.
Bone stock except pump has 1 1/2 turns on the main fuel screw.
Drip edge is actually good, but drivers floor and rockers are gone.
Hopefully pickin up a rust free complete cab/title for $500
I found locally.
Hopefully post a pic for you guys soon.

Being a 3 speed, whats going to be a good hwy cruising speed?
I have not had it over 50 yet.
For decent fuel economy, is there a certain speed to keep it under?
Anyone know what the RPMs are gonna be at from 55-70mph? (savin money for all my gauges)
A clue what MPG's these 2wd trucks get on the hwy?

Learning a bunch browsing this site.
Thanks for the info... Brian

Congrats!

Keep it at 65mph or lower and you'll be fine. Thats what we've noticed when we had our 727 truck. A good aftermarket converter will help out there.

Our 91 D250 727 truck with bumped timing and stuff got 18.2 MPG one time running 65mph... that was before we turned the torque converter into mush but thats not that bad for a 3 speed/3.07 truck at all
