JAyers 501hp Smokin in the BlueGrass 2008

SPS62, 14mm h&r, a set of 6x.016's, etc. If you have any questions about my mods just ask and ill tell. The last dyno run she got away from us. Ended up seizing the h&r and pretty much trashing the pump. But ive got another one in the process of being built right now. It ought to be up and running again by next week.

Heres the runaway vid.

Awesome numbers, but that sucks about the runaway... atleast it's kinda cool to see it on video!

I thought you were gonna convert your truck to a P pump?

Is the 14mm h&r worth doing? I am on the verge of going p-pump. But if the 14mm is reliable, I'd consider that route. That's a gorgeous truck and a nice run by the way.

Josh,
Any idea what made yours get away from you? I had my 14mm pump shred the little rubber parts that drive the governor gear and it took off on me. Sent little bits of rubber everywhere.

so the only 2 people I have heard of running these kind of VE pumps both had them come apart on them. What gives? I want to make around 500whp too and was thinking about one of those pumps but not too sure now.

pwrtripls1 there are probly a dozen of kta 14mm VE pumps running around with no problems. They're just not online types. I have one myself.

Josh, please tell us about your pump and engine mods.

So is it the 4mm camplate and not the actually 14mm pump that is the problem?

AFAIK, the 4mm camplate is relatively new, compared to how long the 14mm head and rotor has been out. But from what I've seen, both seem to have their own problems.

Did it shutdown by turning off the ign. or pulling the shutdown, or is there a remote air block off he has? I didn't see anyone scramble to choke it. I would've had some skidmarks someplace other than on the rollers!

Side note JAyers, did you buy that truck around 2 years ago up in the Cleveland/Chardon area? I went out and looked at an identical truck at the time 5spd and all. It would be pretty cool to say I drove that truck. It wasn't for me at the time, I got a bad vibe about the PO as he "forgot" to mention some minor flaws it had after I made a 12 hour roundtrip to buy it.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, that **** thing has cost me lots of my time and money. But in the end its all worth it.

She shut down a 4600-4700rpm due to the h&r seizing.

The truck was ppumped once upon a time but that motor found its way into a tractor and the motor thats in it now was taking up space in the barn.

The engine is A-ok and will be getting a new pump with all the goodies minus the 4mm camplate, its not needed and just isnt reliable. It would be ok if it was just a drag truck or sled pulling truck but if you wanna drive it to work or around occasionally i wouldnt reccomend it.

Im always gonna run a single charger so i dont really need the camplate plus i like to drive mine at least 3 times a week.

The runaway was a basic appliance of to much fuel screw.

I dont have time right now to give you all a list of engine and pump mods but i will post em later on this evening.

Powerrammaster dave pulled the shutdown lever through the dash, even turned off the A1000, and it still didnt shut it down. This truck was bought locally around 8 years ago. Im the second owner and unless someone offers me a large amount of dough it wont be going anywhere for alllllooooonnnngggg time.
