intermitent fuel pressure??

Ok, long story short, fuel shutoff plunger decided it couldn't take any more added fuel after I smoked 2 newer suped up 7.3's. So tried the mod in the sticky and it wants to shut it off, but not all the way!! Need to get a new one I guess..

While I was doing that I finally plumbed in a fuel pressure guage, first started it and had 5psi at idle, dropped a little when I wicked it up a bit, took for a drive, came back and it was 0 at idle. Went back up town to get some plugs for the wheelin truck and started it up and it was bouncing between 3-4 erratically. Took off and came back checked it and was 0 again.. The guage is a real nice liquid filled guage that I've been using intermitantly on trucks I've worked on, so I know the guage is good.. Truck still runs good too, so what do you guys think, dead lp...

Zero fuel pressure = dead lift pump.

The bouncing is normal for both styles of mechanical pump.
