Interior trim repair....

Hello All...
Have broken/cracked interior trim pieces....around the edges of the headliner mainly - around screw holes.
Question; Has anyone tried to glue these trim pieces, and what glue was used?
Thank you......

Your best bet is a fiberglass repair, then paint.

You can buy a fiberglass canoe repair kit for about $20.

Includes the mat and the resin. I would fiberglass both sides and paint just the outside.

I used Lord Fusor heat set, works great! I don't know how the fiber glass will work with such plastic

Your best bet to repair the trim is MEK. You can still get it at Lowe's in most states.

It melts the plastic together (basically welds the plastic) and is easy to work with. The bond will be stronger than the surrounding plastic.

Also you might look around for a guy who does plastic welding. Where i live there are a couple around here and it looks pretty good they can match with whatever color you have. I got both front and rear top windshield pieces done for under 10 .bucks. Good luck. Let us know what worked.

MEK is some petty nasty stuff. make sure you use it outside if you value your lungs.

It is used as a cleaner/stripper on machinery parts. When applied to plastic, it melts it.

I used to use it in a machine shop, it was funny to send someone to get it in a styrofoam cup.
I still get it from Home Depot in the paint dept.

What a prankster! I knew a guy in the Navy that was told to take a pot and go get some steam from the boiler... Yeah, he found a valve and opened it up. Thankfully didn't get too badly burned.

LOL.. when I was working Iron I used to love to send the apprentices to check the "polarity fluid" in my welder on the ground.
