Interesting experience

Hi guys,
Apache suggested that I go to a performance diesel injection shop in my area to have them help me diagnose my fuel milage problem. Turns out that it's an awesome shop and the guy is a dodge nut. He gave me a full tour of the shop and all of the equipment. He took the time to put a VE pump on the bosch machine to show me how they test and tune the pumps. The machine basically looks like a lathe that turns the pump at any selected rpm and it has all of the fuel connections so they can actually run and meter the pump. Then he showed me his injector tester and demonstrated it for me. He has a stanadyne machine that was a little too technical for me to understand but there are apparently only 6 of them in California. Looks like I found a great shop. I have an appointment Friday for him to diagnose my rig. Isn't everyday that someone will take the time to give you a full tour. They have a wide selection of pumps available from stock new pumps to rebuilt pumps to fully modified pumps. A fully modified pump runs about $900. I'm leaning towards a modified pump. He says it flows 20% more fuel and better boost. Also has some mods for the low sulphur fuel. Thanks for the referral Apache! ;0)

It sounds like you found a good shop.... they are too rare now-a-days.

Spec'd up 20% over is a fairly common level of tuning and you should have no problem with that.
Just make sure to watch your EGT's when you're right on it hard.

Did you try recruiting him? Might be fun to talk to.

Good news, I was hoping he would do you right. The 20% + hp Is what I had installed, 1 year or 100k warranty I think and it got me 20+ mpg and some good useable power.
