Is your truck intercooled? If not, the stock injectors are good for plenty of power, PODs won't be much of an upgrade. You'll need a 6X.016 or simular. Just a note on the PODs. I'm running them in my intercooled truck with conservative pump settings and lots of timing and they only really haze when the engine is cold. They make more power than I can get to the ground and tow OK. Average about 19 mpg at 70 mph on the highway empty which I think isn't too bad for 4:10 gears. By adjusting the tune I can make the truck smoke like a train and run like a rocket but it's silly hot and mileage goes out the window. If it's just a play truck, PODs are cheap power but you'll need some more air to use all the fuel.

My truck is intercooled, and yes its just a toy, dont really care about milage really. what kind of turbo do you recomend? my pump is maxed out as of right now. what ya think? O yea what should the fuel pressure read on a gauge before injection pump and after lift pump?

Get a fuel pin, Advance the timing, 3200 gov. spring, and a big honkin turbo with some mild injectors (435's) and you have a good running truck.....

Oh and maybe a intercooler upgrade, intercooling piping upgrade, exhaust manifold upgrade, cam upgrade, head porting.

LOL theres endless possibilities.

I thought about buyin some pods too for now and sellin them and gettin some 6x18s next year. But i decided to just save my money and keep my mileage decent til i have money for some good injectors. Its been tempting cuz i need new injectors and the pods are cheap, but most people i know, buy them, keep them for a while, then sell them and get bigger ones. And you usually would lose money if you dothis instead of just waitin and savin up for some good injectors. So I would say do it right the first time. But its all your opinion

6x18's arent gonna do you much good with a near stock turbo. You'll probably make more power with 435's... and they're cheaper.

You'll need twins or a large single to cool 6x18's...

Thought i'd let you know. You may wanna think over the injector thing first...

The pods are hard to turn down at there price, but if there is something that will perform better, ill have to consider them also. But for the most part as long as im at or above 350hp to the wheels ill be happy with what ever injectors i go with. As of right now im leaning tords a set of Pods, HTT stage IV turbo upgrade, and a denny t pin. Ill just have to see were that gets me.

435's are 5x14 compared to PODS 4x14 and 435's arent that much more money.

$500

When I got my PODs they were about the only game in town, other than 190s and custom builds $ , so that's what I got. If I were doing it today I'd likely go another way. The HTT stage 4 is a good upgrade for a stock turbo, and is cheap compared to a new one (I'm sensing a theme here) but will not support all the fuel the PODs will throw at it with the pump maxed out, that's why the conservative settings. Bottom line is your setup needs to be balanced, air/fuel wise to really get the most out of it. PODs are cheap and will get the job done, but to fully use the fuel you'll need more turbo.

I've never dyno'd my truck but SOP I'd say it's around 225-230 at the wheels. There's likely another 50-75 HP worth of fuel if I had the air to use it.

I'm running a stock fuel pin turned to the deep side, smoke screw even with the lid and star wheel turned up 2-3 turns. It smokes a bit on the low end but clears well and with this tune the power comes in smooth and doesn't hit all at once which is good for me as I run heavy and tow alot.

I have fooled around with other tunes and can make the truck smoke really heavy and have the power hit hard enough to break the rears loose in fourth by just whacking it from 1800 RPM. It's a lot of fun.

So, point is, select your parts to work together and then tune it to do what you want.

I lost a part of the "tophat" while I was takin my pump apart last week to take my afc lever out. So i stopped in to see if they had one. They asked me for the part number and I said i didn't know cuz i lost it, so they brought a diagram up on the computer and i showed them what part it was. They checked the number and said that it was obsolete and that they didn't make them anymore. So they couldn't get one and they couldn't tear one out of a junk pump cuz the pump guy wasn't there. And then the guy asked me how I lost it and i said I took my pump top off to take the afc lever out, and then he was like what? you took your pump apart? your gonna blow your pump up if you tear it apart and dont have it checked out and done right and recalibrated! And i said no, I have already done it before when i put my 366 spring in and it has been fine. And then he was like, well i guess you are a lucky one. And I was just thinkin, this guy doesn't know crap about these old pumps. I mean I know if you mess with the head of the pump, that you should have it done right and recalibrated and the precision right and everything, but just takin the pump top off to do some mods wont hurt it. It just makes me mad that these guys that know all about these newer fuel pumps think they know everything about these older pumps, and they don't. I think I know more about these old pumps than they do!
Thats weird, man. They are the ones who built my new pump.Ezra

Where you from Ezra??? Yeah it was a little weird. I have never really done business with them, I was just in Salt lake and decided to check and see if they had one. I was just kinda like what??? and yes i got my pump put back together and my truck is fine!!! hasn't blown up yet! I have torn it apart twice now and its been fine both times. Maybe the guy i talked to just didn't know much at all about the old VE pumps, I don't know, he didn't seem to...
